Always keep your site componets up to date so you get the latest security patches in place.

Your site has an administrator control panel that will allow you to install extentions and some patches. Site patches for core file version updates can simply be FTPed to you site root directory to save over the top of your current site files. As with all uipdates...backup your site and your database first to make sure you can restore to the currently working version if the patch does not work for some reason.
