Joomla! Users Group Greater Seattle (JUGrGrS)

Joomla! Users Group Greater Seattle (JUGrGrS)
Levels of Involvement

This group is unique as it has its own "economy" of supply and demand of time, knowledge and other resources.

As far as getting involved goes, you can subscribe to the group mailing list, register an account for the website, and attend meetings/events. These levels work hand-in-hand. For starters, There is a comment section under each event for reviews that might be helpful to newcomers as they familiarize themselves with the identity of the group, which in turn is established by those involved.

There is some incentive to attend events (the highest level of involvement); like higher access levels for this website, potential social benefits and networking opportunities that can be followed up on the shoutbox, mailing list, and comments/blog as well as other online community features underway.

Group Email List

There is a Group email list that works like a Yahoo Group or Google Group; Assuming you are familiar with that, but if not, it basically sends an email to the entire subscribed list, and anyone can reply to that email which gets sent back to the group again. This is how we started before the website and it seems to be a good feature to keep in place, and even though it is hosted on the same server, the [JUGrGrS] email list is separate from website registration so you need to go Subscribe here to be a part of that line of communication.

Please note that you will need to check your email to confirm your request for subscription. Then only the first email you send to the group is moderated, so start by introducing yourself to the group so admin can get alerted to turn off moderation for your account.

Non-subscribers can send mail to the group but it is always moderated, mostly to prevent spam, but otherwise available through the contacts page as a way to contact the whole group at once if approved by a moderator.

All of the postings are saved in public archives that can be sorted by thread/subject/author/date or downloaded in compressed formats. Think of it as an open forum except you are subscribed to all topics. Hopefully this serves as an asset to our Mission Statement and you find it beneficial in some way if you decide to use it.
